{"id":1381,"date":"2022-09-05T17:06:21","date_gmt":"2022-09-05T17:06:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/?p=1381"},"modified":"2022-09-05T17:06:24","modified_gmt":"2022-09-05T17:06:24","slug":"finland-proposes-10-bn-liquidity-guarantee-to-energy-sector","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/1381\/","title":{"rendered":"Finland proposes $10 bn liquidity guarantee to energy sector"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\" itemprop=\"description\">\n<p>Finland&#8217;s government said on Sunday it plans to offer up to 10 billion euros ($10 billion) of liquidity guarantees to the energy sector to help prevent a Nordic financial crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Finnish government has proposed to provide the country&#8217;s electricity companies with loans and guarantees of up to 10 billion euros ($10 billion) to secure the sufficiency of their cash resources, Business Standard reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finance Minister Annika Saarikko said at a government press conference on Sunday afternoon that with the pledge, the government wants to &#8220;calm down the electricity futures, or derivatives market and to secure the availability of electricity in Finland in all circumstances&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;The state could grant loans or guarantees on a case-by-case basis to companies whose continued operations are critical to the functioning of society,&#8221; said Prime Minister Sanna Marin at the press conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The situation erupted over the weekend following information that natural gas deliveries from Russia to continental Europe through the Nord Stream One pipeline would not resume on Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finland does not use Nord Stream One, but the Nordic electricity market will likely see a price increase.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Finnish measures were thought to follow Sweden&#8217;s similar but larger announcement on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the government&#8217;s proposal, the state could grant loans or guarantees to electricity companies if they are threatened with insolvency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A government loan would be the last resort when all other financing options have been exhausted.
