RoydadNaft – <\/a><\/span>\u00a0The Iranian government has issued a directive requiring all government bodies to shut down their heating and electricity systems as of 4 p.m. Wednesday to minimize energy consumption, according to the vice president for executive affairs and chief of staff.<\/p>\n

Mohammad-Jafar Qaempanah announced the decision during a meeting on winter fuel supply held at the Oil Ministry, which was attended by the ministers of oil, energy, industry, and the head of the Plan and Budget Organization.<\/p>\n

He stated, \u201cTo control energy consumption, we started with government offices. This directive aims to bring energy use to the bare minimum.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting, Qaempanah explained that the government convenes weekly\u2014and sometimes daily\u2014to address energy imbalances and ensure sufficient fuel supply for the winter.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe energy imbalance has been a longstanding issue, but the situation is now critical. This meeting was held to manage these imbalances and avoid power outages during the winter,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Qaempanah highlighted significant developments in the country\u2019s oil and gas production over the past 100 days, noting an increase of more than 22 million cubic meters in natural gas production.<\/p>\n

Additionally, gasoline production has risen by over 6 million liters, and diesel production has grown by 7 million liters, he said expressing hope for further increases in the country\u2019s petroleum output next year.<\/p>\n

Acknowledging that energy imbalances cannot be resolved solely through increased production, Qaempanah stressed the need for consumption management. He outlined measures to curb excessive energy use, including restrictions on heating systems in restaurants, swimming pools, and recreational facilities, with the possibility of closing some of these venues to reduce gas consumption.<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cWe hope industries will not face shutdowns. However, if energy consumption continues at its current rate, we will have no choice but to endure power outages and heating shortages. We must ensure equitable distribution of gas and heating across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n

Qaempanah noted that winter has started earlier this year, with temperatures 4 to 5 degrees Celsius lower than last year, intensifying energy imbalances in gas and electricity supplies.<\/p>\n

He emphasized that electricity generation depends on sufficient fuel availability, warning that inadequate fuel could lead to power cuts.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter finalizing decisions from today\u2019s meeting, they will be submitted for presidential approval before implementation,\u201d the official stated.<\/p>\n

Qaempanah also warned that unchecked gas consumption in households could lead to factory closures, contradicting this year\u2019s designation by the Leader as the \u201cYear of Production Leap.\u201d<\/p>\n

He cautioned that industrial shutdowns would result in inflation and unemployment.<\/p>\n

The offocial expressed optimism about overcoming the energy shortages through solar power development, saying that over the past 100 days, 1,500 megawatts of solar energy have been added to the country\u2019s capacity, with additional plans in progress.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the end of this administration\u2019s term, we aim to resolve the imbalances in gas and electricity,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
